Our group keeps in touch in many ways, but most importantly we meet on Monday evenings. Like the East Germans who resisted the communist regime in the old DDR at the Montagsdemos which led to the fall of the Berlin Wall, we meet on Mondays to build our sustainability, and our resilience to climate and environmental impacts, and to protest.

What are EcoCounts Mondays?

Every Monday evening we put on a talk, a workshop or a film as part of a series about living through the climate & nature crisis, in one of these ways:

  • how we can improve our lives and help nature and the climate without breaking the bank
  • making ourselves financially and psychologically more resilient
  • advocating for what we need through writing petitions and lobbying councillors, mayors, MPs, government departments and big corporations

Past events have included brainstorming sessions on how the councils can support us, discussions of how tenants can influence landlords over the gas boiler vs heat pump question, how to record our carbon footprint properly, film nights with the film director doing Q&A, team-based climate card games like Fresk and Climate Crisis.

Who is EcoCounts Mondays for?

EcoCounts Mondays are for everybody who wants to do something about the climate crisis and knows we can’t do it on our own.

Upcoming Events

Everyone who joins up on a Monday in person will be asked to do their carbon footprint. Our carbon footprint program is a great way to discover what your climate impact is – see “How It Works and our EcoCounts group activity and growing ability to act together effectively as a group feeds into our campaign for the national introduction of carbon allowances. Read more here about the EcoCore plan to reduce society’s carbon footprint with Carbon Accounts for everyone.

What if Mondays don’t work for some people?

It’s also possible to do everything remotely. We’ll provide all the information and actions we generate via our website and platform. We’ll help you with recording your carbon footprint, which will help you find dozens of easy ways to reduce your impact on the planet. This is the key – people don’t have to give up everything. Just giving up a little bit at a time is the way to do it, without having to stop everything in one hit. You can join EcoCounts Online for a monthly subscription, which goes towards supporting our program and covering costs.
