Hugh Archibald White

One of the last photos of Hugh White, outside his house in Finsbury Park, holding two dustbin lids as cymbals

Sadly Hugh died on Monday (27th March 2023), unexpectedly to most, although he had been recently diagnosed with a heart condition.

As the chair of the trustees, he was always a steady hand and a great help when it came to running the charity and he’ll be sorely missed.

He always seemed fond of his middle name. This picture of him was taken at one of his Wilberforce Road plant sales which he arranged annually, outside his house “Lilyan”, which was named after his sister who died of cancer in a previous millennium.

We are not sure who took this photo but apparently his next words were “Praise the Lord with dustbin lids!”.

RIP Hugh, we hope your cats find a good home and your garden an appreciative new owner.
