Hi everyone,

I hope you are having a great week! Here is your quick update from the EcoCounts team for this week. We will tell you all about the last Monday meeting, in case you missed it, including some ideas for upcoming events and more ecological tips!

WHAT’S ON

Mark Your Calendar: St Luke’s Autumn Fair (Saturday, 17th October)

It's getting close!

Join us from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at St Luke's Church! Our data team will be on hand to calculate your personal carbon footprint. It’s completely free, friendly, and non-judgmental, and a great opportunity to get a clear look at your numbers and find simple, practical habits to reduce your impact. Come along, say hello, and find out what your numbers look like!

Weekly Monday Meet-Ups at St Luke's

This week's discussion was a look back at the popular Mystery Film Screening we held during the summer.

Across the season, we had 60 bookings, a 300% increase in LinkedIn page visits, and a great mix of people joining us for the films and the conversations afterwards.

The post-film Q&As were a particular highlight, with lots of audience interaction and discussion.

We’re now using what we learned to shape what comes next. We’ve already started discussing ideas including a meter-reading workshop, a low-waste gift swap, and some festive community events.

Do you have any ideas on what we can do? If so, have your say in our next Monday meeting!

Next Meet-up: Monday, 28th September, from 6:00 pm. Come along and say hello!

Behind the Scenes

Slowly, but surely, Dillon and Adam are diving into the initial development phase of our new app! We’ve already mapped out the flow diagrams and wireframes, so we're excited to start bringing it to life.

Stay Tuned!

WHO COUNTS: THE ECO-TIP OF THE WEEK

(Got a quick tip, a repair project, or a realistic eco-habit? We want to hear it!)

Let Your Hair Air-Dry

One simple suggestion from Monday’s meeting: try air-drying your hair after washing it instead of using a hairdryer.

It’s an easy way to cut down on electricity use when you have the time to let your hair dry naturally.

Take the Train

Heading somewhere further afield? Where possible, consider taking the train instead of driving.

We know trains can be problematic, with delays, cancellations and the cost can definitely make them frustrating! But where it’s practical and affordable, taking the train instead of driving can be a lower-carbon way to make longer journeys. And there’s something nice about being able to sit back, read, chat, or simply enjoy the journey rather than concentrating on the road.

It won’t work for every trip or everyone, but when the train is an option, it’s worth considering.

Over to you: What’s your favourite simple habit that cuts costs and saves on waste? Hit reply and let us know. We'd love to feature your idea!

WHAT WE NEED

Thanks to our lovely community, we now have a pre-loved laptop! Find out below how you too can help.

A Filming Light

To help us create more content and share what’s happening at EcoCounts, we’re looking for a working filming light.

If you (or your workplace) have a spare or pre-loved light sitting unused in a cupboard that could help us with filming, we’d love to give it a second life!

Volunteer Manager

Love connecting with people and organising community efforts? We are looking for a Volunteer Manager to help coordinate, support, and grow our wonderful network of volunteers. Head over to our website to apply or reply to this email to find out more.

Join our Board as a Trustee

We're looking for new Trustees to help steer EcoCounts as we grow, and we'd especially love to hear from current volunteers and participants! Do you want to enrich your work with EcoCounts, or get more involved in shaping where we go next? If you have experience in governance, strategy, finance, or simply a deep commitment to grassroots climate action, check out the role on our website or get in touch.

Long-Term Treasurer

Help provide solid governance and financial leadership as we scale our grassroots projects.

Carbon Footprint Data Collectors

Keen to learn how household emissions are measured and help run our dashboard during community pop-ups like the Autumn Fair? No specialist background needed, we’ll show you the ropes!
